Girls Living on the Word (Matt. 5:14)

G.L.O.W., the youth ministry of the United Conference for Women (UCW), was launched in 2009.  The United Conference for Women, now in its 35th year, has hosted an annual fall conference for women to present God’s Word and to encourage spiritual growth by understanding that God provides “Daily Strength for Daily Needs” (Colossians 2:6-7). The outreach has been to all generations.

G.L.O.W. was developed to invest in the lives of young ladies 12-18 years old. The leadership for this branch of UCW is comprised of young adult women who are committed to impact this target age group, and they are committed to living a lifestyle that reflects Godly living on a daily basis. The staff is transparent and intention in sharing their joy and hope in Jesus Christ.  The sessions are designed to address the physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs of the young participants. UCW recognizes that our younger generation faces serious challenges geared to distract and potentially destroy them. We want to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those who do not know Him, and encourage those who are Christians to grow and be a light amongst their peers. We seek to equip them with tools and resources that challenge them to be young women of God.  We encourage them to G.L.O.W.!

                                                                                                              

The Scripture Focus for G.L.O.W. comes from Matthew 5:14-16a (The Message Bible)    "Here's another way to put it: You're here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not    a secret to be kept. We're going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don't think I'm going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I'm putting you on a light stand. Now that I've put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine!
